“We have a corner terrace built in 1865 in the heritage village of Newtown North. It is literally on the street with no front yard. People are forever looking through our front glass panels which display a limestone room bathed in sun and antiques, with an exquisite sandstone wall. Our front wall between the house and studio is in matching sandstone, also handcrafted by Steve. People often knock on our door or slip notes under the door to ask – Who did that sandstone wall?  Was it constructed in the 1800s?  Who was your designer? or Is there still such a thing as a stonemason?  They are never quite sure if it is original or new.  But it is eye-catching and something out of the ordinary. They agree that it is impeccably blended to the aesthetic of the home’s architecture and the 19th century streetscape. We enjoyed working with Steve, since his style is to achieve a sense that we jointly create a living piece of art in the built environment. He is consultative, ever so cautious, an early starter and loves what he creates. And there are laughs along the way!” Jonine & Mark, NewtownSandstone wall

“Our renovation meant we needed a qualified bricklayer capable of building substantial brick and block walls.  We were so impressed with Steve’s brickwork that we used him to complete all our sandstone stairs, paths and garden walls as well.  We get loads of positive comments on the appearance of the sandstone. Steve did a very professional job, was easy to get along with, always reliable and a pleasure to deal with.  Finding great tradies made our renovation go smoothly. I would highly recommend him.” S Rivas, Balmain

“Steve the brickie did a great job in fixing the hole in our wall after an old oil heater was removed.  It was difficult and time-consuming to find a quality tradesman to do a small job. Steve was a breath of fresh air being prompt, tidy and delivering on what he said he was going to do.  I highly recommend him for any bricklaying job – small or large.” Patrick, Eastwood

“I have known Steve for over 15 years and have used his services on several occasions for small and medium residential jobs.  I cannot recommend Steve and his team more highly.  He is a seriously experienced operator, extremely prompt, honest and efficient.  The results I have had on projects ranging from rebuilding front walls, retaining walls, ornate driveway pillars to remodelling windows and wall openings in my houses have always been well in excess of my expectations. Steve has the experience and confidence to quote and complete work in an accurate and precise manner, on time and on budget. He is always tidy and treats everybody’s home like his own. His sites are tidy and businesslike and his team is well trained, ensuring sites are in an orderly state after each day’s work. I have revisited several properties Steve worked on almost ten years ago and the brickwork looks as good and as solid as the day he completed the job. Steve’s knowledge and personable nature have also proved invaluable in terms of selecting the right bricks and designs and taking the best course of action regarding suitable foundations and structural elements. Nothing he has built for me has ever cracked or moved.  I will always actively seek Steve for any of my brickwork needs.  As far as I am concerned there is the rest of the industry and then there is Steve – well ahead on all counts.” Glenn, Abbotsford

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve for approximately 25 years.  During this time, not only has Steve done a lot of work for me but we have developed a firm friendship. In his capacity as a tradesman, he is a first class bricklayer and stonemason.  He is reliable, punctual, pays attention to detail and has a strong work ethic.  He takes pride in his work and is efficient and competent in the way he runs his business.  As a person, he is warm and friendly.  He is a devoted family man and an excellent communicator.  Steve is a great person to have around, both socially and in the workplace.  He is a man of integrity who gets the job done.  I have always been delighted to recommend him to others.” Clifford, Glebe
